OBUASI MCE PROMISES PEACE IN ELECTIONS

The MCE for Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi has promised to do all in his power to ensure peace before, during and after this year’s general elections.


According to him without peace there is no way the nation can move forward. He therefore urged the youth not to be used by politicians to perpetrate acts of violence in this year’s election.

He further noted that one of the ways to promote peace in this year election is through social activities like soccer. In view of this, he has planned to organize at least three soccer competitions before the general elections.
He said this during a community soccer Gala organized by Time Fm, a local radio station in  Obuasi, held to mark Ghana’s 56th Republic day anniversary. The competition which was won by Kwapia, drew participants from sixteen communities in the Adansi areas
.
Kwapia beat Obuasi Estate in the grand finale 5-4 on penalties to clinch the ultimate trophy as well as a Go TV decoder and other products from sponsors.

Hon Ofori Agyemang Boadi added that, this idea of organizing soccer competitions will go a long way to raise talents for the Nation.

The Kontihene for Dompoase  Divisional Area, Nana Bosompem Kitikyi Apenten II who was the special guest of honour advised  the youth on the need to ensure peace before, during and after the election by being law-abiding citizens. 
                                          
Dr Patrick Boakye Yiadom Npp Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East also took turn to advise the youth on ensuring peace.

On his part the general manager of Time fm Mr Richard Akwasi Gyamfi, in his closing remarks thanked all and urged the talented footballers to be extra serious on their God-given talent as soccer is now a lucrative venture.

Acting Chief Imam and his entourage were present to grace the occasion. 
     



     
Other communities who participated in the event include Obuasi Central, Ntonsua, Wamase, Akrokerri, Kyekyewere, Apitiso, Mensakrom, Pewodie, Kunka, Mile 14, Sofo Lagon and Hia.
